Well, after high school I went to the US Air Force Academy, was there for two and half years...hated every minute lol. But I'm kind of stubborn, so it took a while for me to come to grips with the realization that just because I CAN do something doesn't mean it will be rewarding or fulfilling.

Unfortunately, by the time I realized that it was too late, I had incurred a service obligation, so I had to spend two more years in the Air Force on the enlisted side.

That was actually a good experience, learned a lot about people and interpersonal relations...you know, the kind of political in-fighting that is inevitable in any large organization, and the military is one of the largest : /.

In short I learned it's NOT for me. In the middle of all this time in the military I got married, and looking back I can see that it was clearly an attempt to create some normalcy in my life and have something solid, you know a foundation to build my life around.

..but unfortunately the girl I married wasn't completely honest with me, and she not only cheated on me, she got pregnant with someone else's child and tried to say it was mine.

..lol...I have to give her credit though, she did break down and tell me only a few weeks into the pregnancy. Still, though, it was a ridiculous see-saw of emotions to go from expectant father to realizing your wife has been seeing other men.

..still, I'm actually thankful that it happened, because it was the only way I would have ever divorced her. I'm pretty old fashioned when it comes to my views on marriage and commitment, and I think "til death do us part" means EXACTLY that, so when I got married I was ready to walk through fire for her.

If she had not become pregnant with someone else's child AND tried to lie to me about it, I very well may have never seen the flaws in our relationship. She probably would have continued cheating and I would have been ignorant of it until something else happened.
